Specimens for the pertussis test are collected at the CLSC’s Nursing Care Clinic (NCC) with a referral.

Since breastfeeding is encouraged, we offer two group meetings for future parents who want to learn more about its benefits. These meetings are organized by the CLSC de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield in collaboration with the Nourri-Source breastfeeding drop-in service.
The meetings are held at 71 rue Maden, in rooms 1, 2 and 3, on the 2nd floor, on the 2nd Thursday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and on the 4th Thursday of the month, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
As part of the follow-up after your baby’s birth, one of our nurses will also provide you with breastfeeding support starting at the first home visit and for as long as you need it.
In addition, community-based breastfeeding support services are provided by Nourri-Source.

From the time you’re diagnosed with cancer or told that your cancer is back, the pivot nurse at your treatment centre will be there to guide you through your treatments and give you the services you need. After that, you will be transferred to our care teams for follow-up.

SIDEP services (integrated screening and prevention services for HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections) are free and confidential. They are provided by a nurse clinician at various community organizations, social gathering places, and CLSCs.
You can also consult services SIDEP+ that are intended EXCLUSIVELY for men having sex with other men.

What is an intellectual disability?
Intellectual disability is a disability characterized by significant limitations both in intellectual functioning and in adaptive behaviour, which covers a range of everyday social and practical skills. The impairments appear before age 18.
What is autism spectrum disorder?
Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that significantly affects social interaction, communication and behaviour. It also manifests in the form of atypical behaviours and the development of narrow or extreme interests in specific topics. People with ASD are a highly heterogeneous group; depending on the type of impairment, they will need different types of support.

For any request concerning a person under the age of 14, the request must be signed by the mother OR the father OR the legal guardian. As per the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, fees will be required in advance for certain services.

The Vallée midwifery services are front-line services that complement existing perinatal services. They provide pregnancy follow-up, group prenatal classes, necessary services during childbirth, and postpartum follow-up for up 6 weeks for both the mother and the baby.

Nutrition services are provided by nutritionists and dietetic technicians to young people under age 18 or pregnant women.
Nutrition counselling and assessments are intended to help the target population adopt healthier eating habits in order to improve or maintain an optimal level of health.
The following are the main reasons people seek out nutrition counselling:
• Children or young people under age 18 who need a diet due to a health problem (failure to thrive, obesity, food allergy or intolerance, food refusal, or gastrointestinal tract problem) or who need advice about following a vegan or vegetarian diet;
• Young pregnant woman in a difficult situation due to age or finances: OLO nutritional support program (eggs, milk, orange juice);
• Prenatal and postnatal follow-up for vulnerable clientele;
• Pregnant women with a health problem: gestational diabetes, low weight gain, high cholesterol, high blood pressure;
• Prenatal meetings: food component;
• Counselling in schools to help children develop healthy eating habits;
• Counselling in community organizations;
Group or individual counselling and follow-up are offered and are predominantly interdisciplinary.

Our chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) clinic and our asthma education centre can help you learn to live and cope with a lung disease, such as bronchitis, emphysema or asthma. Our professionals will teach you breathing techniques and follow up on all aspects related to your treatments and medications.
With a referral from a doctor, we also provide respiratory function tests to diagnose, screen for and assess lung diseases.
