Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections

In 2020, 3,624 Montérégie residents were diagnosed with chlamydial infections, 560 with gonorrhea, 133 with infectious syphilis, and 123 with hepatitis C. No data is available for human papilloma (condyloma),herpes simplex (genital herpes) or HIV, but nevertheless, a large number of people are affected. Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) are often asymptomatic, so many people can, without knowing, transmit them to others. So, STBBIs are always present and are spreading rapidly in the Montérégie as well as throughout Quebec!

Not only are STBBIs widespread, they also have serious health consequences, which for some people can include infertility, cancer, chronic abdominal pain, infection of the newborn, and anxiety. This situation is approaching crisis levels, with these infections likely to affect even more people in the Montérégie region in the coming years. We are all responsible for reversing the trend. What will you do to contribute?
