A private seniors’ residence is a place that offers a relatively wide range of services such as meals, nursing care, personal assistance, domestic help, security and supervision. These residences are owned and managed by entirely private interests.
For more information about private seniors’ residences in the Montérégie, consult the Registre des résidences privées pour aînés (Registry of private seniors’ residences) on the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec website.

Certification
In accordance with the Act respecting health services and social services, each private residence must obtain a certificate of compliance, a document guaranteeing that the residence meets certain service quality and safety requirements.
The certification process is based on criteria that relate to the facilities and to access to high-quality health and social services. It also ensures that certain fundamental values are upheld, such as courtesy, equality, understanding, and respect for the dignity and autonomy of individuals.
