We also offer a breastfeeding information session during our prenatal classes.

Breastfeeding drop-in clinics are available without an appointment in collaboration with Nourri-Source.

As part of the follow-up after your baby’s birth, one of our nurses will provide you with breastfeeding support during the first follow-up phone call. This support may continue at the CLSC or at home, as needed.

As a Baby Friendly-accredited facility, we promote and support breastfeeding.

Services are available from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the CLSC and Centre de services ambulatoires de Vaudreuil-Dorion.

You can call the crisis and suicide prevention centres La Maison sous les arbres at 450-699-5935 (Châteauguay) or Le Tournant at 450-371-2820 (Suroît) at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

No matter what your age, you can call the provincial suicide prevention hotline at any time at 1-866-APPELLE (277-3553). They will refer you to the appropriate resources, services and professionals.

Contact the psychosocial intake department at your local CLSC, which will analyze your needs and refer you to the relevant services.

What is an intellectual disability?

Intellectual disability is a disability characterized by significant limitations both in intellectual functioning and in adaptive behaviour, which covers a range of everyday social and practical skills. The impairments appear before age 18.

What is autism spectrum disorder?

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that significantly affects social interaction, communication and behaviour. It also manifests in the form of atypical behaviours and the development of narrow or extreme interests in specific topics. People with ASD are a highly heterogeneous group; depending on the type of impairment, they will need different types of support.

To obtain a summary or specific part of your medical record, you must:

For any request concerning a person under the age of 14, the request must be signed by the mother OR the father OR the legal guardian. As per the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, fees will be required in advance for certain services.

Nutrition services are provided by nutritionists and dietetic technicians to young people under age 18 or pregnant women.

Nutrition counselling and assessments are intended to help the target population adopt healthier eating habits in order to improve or maintain an optimal level of health.

The following are the main reasons people seek out nutrition counselling:

• Children or young people under age 18 who need a diet due to a health problem (failure to thrive, obesity, food allergy or intolerance, food refusal, or gastrointestinal tract problem) or who need advice about following a vegan or vegetarian diet;

• Young pregnant woman in a difficult situation due to age or finances: OLO nutritional support program (eggs, milk, orange juice);

• Prenatal and postnatal follow-up for vulnerable clientele;

• Pregnant women with a health problem: gestational diabetes, low weight gain, high cholesterol, high blood pressure;

Prenatal meetings: food component;

• Counselling in schools to help children develop healthy eating habits;

• Counselling in community organizations;

Group or individual counselling and follow-up are offered and are predominantly interdisciplinary.

Unlike the individual follow-ups offered to parents residing on the territory, our support group “Paroles aux anges” is open to all parents, whether or not they live on the territory.

This group is intended for parents who have experienced a miscarriage, an elective abortion after discovering a birth defect, an ectopic pregnancy, a stillbirth, or an infant’s death during the first days or weeks after birth.

Brochures specifically designed for grieving parents are available in French and English.

You and your spouse can register for a series of free prenatal classes given by your CLSC.

Two complementary components are offered: “Enceinte à deux,” which discusses the changes to expect during the nine months of pregnancy, followed by four prenatal classes to prepare parents for the delivery and caring for a newborn. They will cover topics of importance to expectant parents:

  • pregnancy and daily life;
  • physical and psychological changes;
  • the many facets of breastfeeding; 
  • labour and delivery; 
  • the new family unit; 
  • caring for the newborn;
  • postpartum services.

REGISTER AS EARLY AS YOUR 1ST TRIMESTER

The early stages of pregnancy are a special time for future parents to navigate the new role they’ll soon be taking on. It’s an opportunity for the parents-to-be to get nutrition advice, information about the physical and physiological changes to expect during pregnancy, recommended lifestyle habits, etc.


Series of four prenatal classes

The first class should take place around week 28 of pregnancy.

The prenatal classes will cover four topics: labour and delivery, pain relief, breastfeeding, and caring for a newborn. During these four two-hour group classes, you will also get answers to the main questions you may have about your baby’s impending arrival.

The classes will take place at the CLSC et Centre de services ambulatoires de Vaudreuil-Dorion, at 3031 boulevard de la Gare, Vaudreuil-Dorion, in room 264, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Go to a Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (RAMQ) outlet with all the required documents, including the renewal notice for your health insurance card.

If you don’t have a driver’s license

If the renewal period expired less than six months ago and you have an appointment with a doctor in the next few days, go to your local CLSC to have your application authenticated; you must bring two pieces of identification and a recent photo that meets the RAMQ criteria.

We offer vaccination services for children aged 2 months to 5 years. Our vaccines cover diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, serious Hib infections, hepatitis B, rotavirus, pneumococcus, measles, rubella, mumps, type C meningitis, influenza and chickenpox.

The CLIMATS clinic at the CLSC et Centre de services ambulatoires de Vaudreuil-Dorion provides the following services: 

  1. Abortion up to 14 weeks of pregnancy
    The abortion can be surgical (by D&C, or dilation and curettage) or medical (by taking medication at home), depending on the case. 
    • Pre-abortion appointments are available weekly with the nurse clinician, who will give you all the information you need.
    • Depending on the chosen option, it is necessary to plan 1 to 2 other additional appointment(s). 
    • You can meet with a social worker on request. 
  1. Contraception
    All forms of contraception are available: the pill, IUD (insertion or removal), birth control implants, etc. 
     
  2. Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) 
     
  3. Emergency contraception (medication or IUD) 

Cost

No cost with the health insurance card. Free, confidential, no prescription required.

You must have someone accompany you home after a surgical abortion.

There are several youth centres in your region. You’ll meet other young people there who are just like you—new friends you can talk to and confide in. You’ll also find people who are always willing to listen if you feel the need to open up.
