Netiquette information sheet

CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de la Montérégie-Ouest is active on social media sites and other online discussion forums, namely Facebook and LinkedIn.

To ensure that discussions remain polite and civil, certain rules apply:

Rules of conduct

The CISSS will not tolerate posts that contain illegal, inappropriate, vulgar, offensive, defamatory, threatening, or abusive content, or content unrelated to the CISSS, and reserves the right to delete such content, at its sole discretion, without prior notice.

In order to maintain respectful interactions on its social media platforms, the CISSS expects Internet users to refrain from launching personal attacks, using inflammatory language, and engaging in arguments with other community members.

In the online world, comments written in capital letters are associated with shouting and may be interpreted as a display of aggressiveness, which is unpleasant for other users. Any comment containing a word in written in capital letters (except for abbreviations and acronyms) may be deleted by the CISSS without prior notice.

The CISSS will correct any information about it that is inaccurate or misleading as quickly as possible.

The CISSS reserves the right to amend these rules of netiquette or to shut down one of its online discussion forums without prior notice.

Identity

The CISSS’s presence on social media and other online discussion forums is not anonymous. Similarly, Internet users who wish to use these platforms as a means of interacting with the organization are required to identify themselves. The CISSS reserves the right not to publish a comment or answer a question if there is any doubt about the author’s identity.

TROLL[1]

Assuming the identity of a blogger, writer, moderator or any other person will not be tolerated, and messages posted by a troll will be automatically deleted.

Content

The CISSS answers users’ online questions and comments as quickly as possible. However, the response time may be longer outside of regular offices hours and on holidays and weekends.

Off-topic comments may be removed, moved or deleted without prior notice if the CISSS determines that they distract from the discussion at hand.

The CISSS reserves the right to moderate comments and questions.

The CISSS removes comments related to potential, imminent or ongoing disputes, as well as comments and questions containing personal information about a CISSS user.

Repetitive messages are detrimental to the conversation and will not be tolerated.

Similarly, posting the same comment more than once, which is considered spam, will not be tolerated.

Advertising and calls for mobilization are prohibited.

Language

Interactions on the CISSS platforms transpire in French. However, the CISSS may answer questions in English in private messages, in accordance with the Charter of the French Language (CQLR, c. C‑11).

Veracity of information

Internet users must ensure that the content they post is true and that it does not infringe on any third-party property, privacy or other rights.

Dissemination

By posting content on a CISSS account, Internet users grant the CISSS permission and the free and unlimited right to use and disseminate their content, for all intents and purposes.

By posting on a social media account and/or online discussion forum, Internet users understand that their comments will be published online for an indefinite period of time and will be indexed by online search engines.

For any problem related to the user services provided by the CISSS, we recommend that Internet users contact Customer Service by:
